Welcome to Fix It Upstream!
“Prevention is better than cure.” – Desiderius Erasmus
Let’s face it: most of the time, we’re stuck reacting to problems instead of preventing them. We put out fires, scramble to fix what’s broken, and keep playing catch-up. But what if we flipped the script? What if we stopped the problems before they even started? This is a space where we tackle this one BIG idea: prevention is better than cure. Instead of reacting to health problems after they happen, what if we could stop them before they even begin?
That’s the big idea behind Fix It Upstream. Inspired by my family’s experiences with diabetes and allergies, I’ve made it my mission to explore how small changes in nutrition can lead to big improvements in health. Through research, self-study, and personal experiences—like my two-year ketogenic journey—I’ve learned that prevention is powerful.
This blog is where I share what I’ve discovered so far. Whether you’re here for practical tips, inspiring stories, or insights from my research on low-carb diets and Type 2 diabetes remission, I hope you find something that helps you take control of your health journey.

About Me
Hi! I’m Lucas Song, a high school student on a mission to explore how small changes in nutrition can make a big difference in health. Growing up, I watched family members deal with diabetes and allergies, which made me wonder: What if we could prevent these problems instead of just reacting to them?
Inspired by this question, I’ve been diving into the world of nutrition—researching how food choices impact chronic diseases like diabetes. From my two-year ketogenic diet journey to conducting a systematic review on low-carb diets and Type 2 diabetes remission, I’ve learned that prevention starts upstream.
Fix It Upstream is my way of sharing what I’ve discovered so far. Whether you’re here for practical nutrition tips, inspiring stories, or insights from my research, I hope this blog helps you take small steps toward better health. Thanks for stopping by—let’s start fixing things upstream together!
